I wanted to tell you about the Navayogimarga Festival, or "The Festival of the Modern Yogi's Path" where I will be presenting in January. This is a special seven-day festival of intensive yoga classes and workshops. It is the brainchild of Kofi Busia and his wife Carol. They offer it in gratitude for yoga and for the yoga community that has nurtured and supported not just the two of them, through the past couple of years (see https://www.navayogimarga.com/sponsors.php), but in fact all of us. The Festival offers the opportunity for those of us dedicated to yoga, whether it be asana, philosophy, meditation , trauma studies or whatever, to consider where we have been, and where we go from here.

Clearly, the ancient sages who practised and developed yoga could never have imagined our modern world. It is arguable that a short five years ago, we could never have imagined this post pandemic, mask- wearing, social-distancing, in-person-or-zoom world we now live in, and our dilemmas around how we, especially as yogis, should proceed.

I would like you all to know that I will be presenting during the Festival. So I urge you to go to the Festival website at https://www.navayogimarga.com and check out the latest developments in the teacher bios, the sessions we will each be presenting, and for general information about the Festival. The opening five-day portion will be taught by Iyengar-certified teachers, almost all of whom studied directly with BKS Iyengar. The three-day Open Weekend portion immediately following will feature well- known Presenters and practitioners from other traditions. All of them are friends, colleagues, and/or students of Kofi Busia's from his fifty or more years as an internationally renowned yoga teacher. Sessions will include asana, meditation, philosophy, and a chance to learn about the in-depth and highly personal student-teacher transmissions in a way that is possible only with these kinds of world-renowed teachers.

Given the Navayogimarga Festival's title and mission, it is highly appropriate that it will be held entirely online. This gives the opportunity for Presenters and participants to take part while being located all over the world. It will be held over Zoom. Registered participants are of course entitled to live-stream their daily classes. But they will also have on-demand viewing rights to many other sessions of their choice to view whenever it is convenient to them. The precise number will depend on their chosen registration level.

Sessions will be conducted between Monday January 16 and Sunday January 22 2023.

You can purchase tickets for the Navayogimarga Festival online at this link: https://www.navayogimarga.com/purchases_c.php

The entire seven days costs $750.
The 5-Day Iyengar Intensive only, Mon Jan 16 to Fri Jan 20, costs $550. The Open Weekend only, Fri Jan 20 to Fri Jan 22, costs $345.

All of us who continue to practice yoga enshrine the belief that the search yoga embodies encourages, in us, a timeless wisdom that takes hold within, cultivating a world view based on a deepened sense of existence and humanity.

Hopefully you will join me and the other great Presenters being lined up at the Navayogimarga Festival where we can all celebrate together, while also joining the conversation about what the modern yogi’s path might now entail.
