Sunday Intermediate/Advanced Hybrid Class

  • A class for yoga teachers and students with substantial Iyengar Yoga experience, as well as an established home practice.
  • The ability to do Sirsasana and variations away from the wall, strength in intermediate back bending, forward bending, and balancing postures is required.
  • Students at this level have been practicing Iyengar yoga for 5 or more years.
  • Class length is 120 minutes.

  • The back class will emphasize how to elongate, extend and soften the muscles of the spine in basic asanas (postures).
  • Modifications in the poses will be taught to alleviate pain and enhance the healing process.
  • Not for those with acute spinal injuries.

  • A 90 minute class designed for all levels of practitioners.
  • Classes will offer a continued and deepened exploration of asanas (postures) and Pranayamas (breath awareness).
  • It is recommended that students who have never done yoga attend an introduction to yoga series or a few fundamentals classes prior to attending all-levels class.

Kathy has been a student and practitioner of yoga since 1976. She has been deeply and profoundly touched by the sensitive teachings of yoga guru, B.K.S. Iyengar. Kathy has traveled often to Pune, India to study directly under B.K.S. Iyengar, as well as with his children, Geeta and Prashant Iyengar.

Kathy is a CIYT Level 3.

Kathy's wealth of specialist knowledge and expertise will support and guide students of all levels of proficiency, perfect for yoga students and yoga teachers alike. She has also successfully mentored students through the certification process sponsored by the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States.

For those experiencing back pain, Kathy's breadth of experience and technical specificity rivals any remedial therapy available. She offers a weekly back care class as well as private instruction.

With her expertise in teaching clearly and precisely, coupled with her compassion, she will safely guide each student on their own yogic journey.
